Hazard Mitigation Plan Update
Jefferson County Homeland Security and Emergency Management works to identify projects and strategies that reduce or eliminate the risk of damage to buildings, infrastructure, and communities from natural and human-caused hazards. These efforts support long-term resilience and help reduce the cycle of disaster damage, reconstruction, and repeated losses.
The Jefferson County Multi-Jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan establishes long-term strategies for the County and participating municipalities to reduce disaster risks. The 2023 update builds on the 2018 plan and identifies hazards, community vulnerabilities, and cost-effective mitigation measures.

Get Involved
Input from residents, workers, business owners, visitors, and other community members helps inform hazard mitigation priorities and projects. You can participate in several ways.
Join the All Hazards Mitigation Planning Committee
The All Hazards Mitigation Planning Committee reviews hazard risks and mitigation strategies. Community members are welcome to participate, with meetings available in person or by streaming when offered.
